About the role
Eneco is seeking a Data Scientist in Asset Optimization to join the Analytics & Realization domain within Trade Operations & IT in Rotterdam. In this role, you will develop and enhance mathematical optimization models that drive real-time trading and dispatch decisions for Eneco's Virtual Power Plant. Your objective is to maximize the value and flexibility of a diverse renewable asset portfolio, including batteries, wind, solar, and conventional assets. Daily responsibilities include designing, testing, and deploying modular Python-based optimization models, translating physical asset constraints and energy market opportunities into mathematical logic, and collaborating closely with short-term traders, developers, and dispatchers. The role requires a strong background in a quantitative discipline (such as mathematics, physics, computer science, or econometrics) and 1 to 4 years of experience. Technically, the position relies on a modern stack including clean Python, Databricks, and Microsoft Azure to ensure high reliability, scalability, and robust real-time monitoring of live trading processes.
