Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Eneco is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer in Rotterdam to help accelerate the energy transition by transforming ML models into production-ready systems that support trading, pricing, and demand forecasting in dynamic energy markets. Working at the intersection of data science and data engineering, the successful candidate will own the entire lifecycle from experimentation to deployment. Key responsibilities include building robust data and feature pipelines, creating sophisticated backtesting and simulation frameworks, and establishing teamwide engineering standards for reproducibility and reliability. The role involves managing containerized execution environments and implementing comprehensive monitoring, observability, and anomaly detection for time-series forecasting systems. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience with a strong ownership mindset, expert-level Python engineering skills, and a production-first approach. Technical requirements include hands-on experience with Databricks or similar distributed compute platforms, cloud-native architectures, and containerized deployments, with preferred experience in Snowflake, dbt, and Java within the energy or demand forecasting sector.
