About the role

The IMC Macro Analyst Intern program offers a comprehensive 9-week immersive experience within the proprietary trading landscape in Amsterdam. Interns engage in initial classroom-based learning, followed by practical application through meaningful projects and weekly trading challenges, all while receiving extensive support from dedicated trainers and mentors. Key responsibilities involve preparing daily analyses of global headlines and market trends, communicated through stand-up sessions and emails. Interns will meticulously prepare for and analyze significant macro events, including central bank meetings, crucial data releases, elections, and corporate earnings reports. A core aspect of the role is to collaborate closely with both analyst teams and experienced traders, seeking out trading opportunities that other market participants might overlook or misinterpret. Projects will include honing skills in quantitative methods such as time series analysis, focusing on the volatility of events and realized market moves, spotting intricate patterns, identifying potential regime shifts, and building robust market scenarios. The internship also provides valuable exposure to diverse trading desks through shadow sessions. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, with experience in programming languages like Python, Matlab, or R being highly advantageous.
