About the role

The Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) is seeking a Junior Supervisor (Toezichthouder) for its Asset Management department, specifically within the Ongoing Supervision (Doorlopend Toezicht) team. The Dutch asset management sector is highly complex, managing over ‐2,000 billion in assets, and is undergoing significant shifts due to the new pension system and evolving European regulations. In this role, the supervisor will oversee investment fund managers, investment firms, crowdfunding platforms, and custodians. Key responsibilities include analyzing complex regulatory dossiers, assessing risks related to governance, outsourcing, and sustainability, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Additionally, the supervisor will translate new European legislative frameworks, such as AIFMD II and MiFID II, into practical policy and supervisory frameworks, and maintain regular engagement with external stakeholders like DNB and other European supervisory authorities. The role requires a strong analytical background to interpret intricate legal and financial data, focusing primarily on qualitative regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and policy implementation.
