About the role

The Head of Asset Management at the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) in Amsterdam provides strategic leadership and direction to the department supervising investment fund managers, investment firms, custodians, and crowdfunding platforms. Overseeing a highly international sector with approximately €2,000 billion in assets under management across more than 300 supervised entities, the department is embarking on a significant transformation. Under your leadership, the department will transition towards a more risk-driven, data-driven, and agile supervisory framework. Key responsibilities include defining the division's strategic direction, translating market and regulatory developments into effective oversight policies, and leading a high-performing team of three managers and their professional staff. While the role does not require a deep quantitative modeling background, the ideal candidate must have strong affinity with financial sector risk, investment principles, and data-driven analytical approaches, combined with proven experience in organizational development, change management, and agile work environments.
