About the role

Optiver is seeking highly analytical, penultimate-year STEM students for its immersive ten-week Quantitative Trading Internship in Amsterdam, starting in 2027. Operating on Optiver's fast-paced trading floor, interns will gain direct exposure to how research, technology, and trading converge in live markets. Under the mentorship of experienced traders and research specialists, participants will engage in simulated trading sessions that replicate real market dynamics using simulated capital and Optiver's proprietary technology stack. Interns will undertake a research-led project to evaluate how complex data analysis, market behaviour, and hypothesis testing feed directly into high-performing trading strategies. The educational curriculum covers vital quantitative concepts including probability theory, strategic game design, market structure, and algorithmic decision-making. Furthermore, interns will leverage artificial intelligence techniques to tackle practical trading problems. Candidates must possess exceptional logical reasoning skills, a passion for competitive activities, and familiarity with programming or scripting in Python. Outstanding performance during this rigorous program can lead to a full-time Quantitative Trader offer upon graduation in 2028.
