Senior Data Scientist

Bitvavo, a leading European digital assets trading platform, is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join their Headquarters Engineering team. This role is pivotal in ensuring business decisions regarding spend, pricing, product, risk, and financial crime are evidence-based rather than relying on intuition. Key responsibilities include owning problems end-to-end, framing questions with stakeholders, building and shipping models or experiments to production, and continuously monitoring their performance. The role involves applying advanced quantitative methods such as causal inference to measure incrementality, developing marketing mix models for spend allocation, building predictive and ranking models for product personalization, and modeling fee/spread elasticity for market optimization. Furthermore, the Senior Data Scientist will tackle complex risk challenges, including forecasting liquidation risk and detecting reconciliation breaks, alongside real-time financial crime detection for account takeover, payment fraud, and mule networks using explainable models. A strong command of Python and SQL is essential, with experience in a modern data stack including Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, MySQL, Druid, Kafka, and Flink.
