Data Scientist

Nationale-Nederlanden is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join the Business Optimisation team within the Schade & Inkomen (Non-Life and Income) business unit in Den Haag. The team focuses on driving innovation by translating complex business challenges into powerful data and AI solutions, with a mandate to successfully deploy these models into production. Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing both classical machine learning and state-of-the-art Generative AI applications. The role involves utilizing technologies such as AI-as-a-Service, Large Language Models (LLMs), Cognitive Services, and OpenAI APIs. Additionally, the candidate will oversee model monitoring and lifecycle management in collaboration with MLOps and IT architecture teams. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Econometrics, Mathematics, or similar) and possess a minimum of two years of hands-on experience in building ML applications with Python. Technical proficiency in setting up automated APIs, working with Git, cloud deployment pipelines (particularly Azure CI/CD), and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform is required. Excellent communication in Dutch (C2-level) is essential to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across business and operational units.
