About the role
Eneco is seeking a Senior Short-Term Power Trader to join its Rotterdam-based energy trading desk, playing a critical role in managing proprietary books across European prompt and short-term power markets (from day-ahead to month-ahead). Operating within a professional trading environment with dedicated risk capital, the successful candidate will have direct P&L accountability. Daily responsibilities include developing and executing speculative trading strategies based on structural market imbalances and fundamental drivers, such as wind, solar, temperature, outages, interconnectors, and supply-demand stack dynamics. The trader will collaborate closely with power analysts to interpret, build, and challenge complex power stack models and structural forecasting tools. While this is primarily a market-facing execution and position-taking role, technical familiarity with quantitative concepts and programming tools like Python is highly valuable for refining models and parsing analytical insights. Candidates should possess a strong quantitative or academic background, a proven track record of managing volatile P&L, and a deep understanding of European power market fundamentals.
