About the role

Optiver is seeking Quantitative Research Interns for its 10-week summer program in Amsterdam, starting in 2027. This position is tailored for penultimate-year STEM students aiming to transition academic theory into real-world trading strategies. The core objective of the role is to leverage data, mathematics, and technology to generate quantitative insights and design systematic trading strategies. Daily responsibilities include exploring real-world trading questions, testing research hypotheses on large-scale market datasets, and identifying patterns in financial markets. Additionally, interns will participate in simulated trading on Optiver’s live-market infrastructure and gain exposure to AI-driven problem-solving on the trading floor. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in probability, statistics, and mathematics, with some exposure to time-series analysis and machine learning techniques. While proficiency in any programming language is accepted, candidates will utilize programming tools to implement systematic trading models and analyze market behavior. Successful interns may receive a full-time return offer upon graduation in 2028.
